Travel & Stay
We are grateful to everyone travelling to celebrate with us in Ticino. This page will be updated with practical information on arrival, accommodation, boat transfers, and local recommendations.
Getting to Ticino
Ticino is well connected by train and by road, with convenient access from Zurich, Milan, and other major cities in Switzerland and northern Italy.
Detailed travel recommendations will follow closer to the wedding date.
Where to Stay
We recommend staying in or around Ascona, Locarno, or nearby lakeside areas. These locations offer convenient access to the boat transfers and allow guests to enjoy the Lake Maggiore region during the wedding weekend.
Hotel recommendations and booking guidance will be shared in due course.
Getting to the Island
Villa Emden is located on the Isole di Brissago and is reached by boat. We will provide clear transfer details, including departure points and timing, before the wedding.
Local Area
Since Ticino lies directly on the border between Switzerland and Italy, we highly recommend exploring the Italian side as well.
In August, the region comes alive with Mediterranean atmosphere, lakeside towns, excellent food, and the relaxed character of Lake Maggiore.
If time allows, we encourage guests to arrive early or stay for the weekend to enjoy the region beyond the wedding celebrations.
Weather & Packing Notes
August in Ticino is typically warm and sunny, with temperatures often reaching 28–32°C during the day.
As the celebration takes place by Lake Maggiore, evenings may become slightly cooler, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or shawl for later in the evening.
As parts of the wedding take place outdoors, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear for garden and lakeside areas are recommended.
